A lot of our members enjoy the thrill and excitement of competitive racing. Cycle Club Ashwell is affiliated to CTC BC BTT Eastern RR League, which means as a member you have plenty of races to enter. We have many British Cycling licence holders in the club so there’s always members to race with on the road, track or all-terrain cyclo-cross races and leagues.
For more information and race reports, visit the racing section of the club forum.
CC Ashwell Primavera Road Race
The Club organises its own successful 55km road race around May each
year for all 3rd and 4th Category British Cycling racing licence holders. To find out more about this event, or volunteer to help organize the event on the day, contact Carmelo, email carmelo@ccashwell.com
What do I need before I start racing?
The first thing you’ll need to sort out before you enter a race is your British Cycling racing licence, as without one you won’t even be able to enter a race. Visit www.britishcycling.org.uk to join and apply for a licence; you’ll need at least a silver membership and a licence is about £30. If you’ve never joined BC before you can join with a Bronze membership which gives you a provisional licence which is only good for cyclo-cross and ‘go race’ events. The full licence (only available with silver and gold membership) will allow you to enter all BC events, including road, track, cyclocross and mountain biking.
Racing in Club colours
Don’t forget that if you’re representing CC Ashwell in a race then you’ll also need to be wearing our club kit.
